Department Description:   The Private Foundations Services Team (PFS) of the J.P. Morgan Private Bank serves as a clearinghouse for the philanthropic interest of clients, offering guidance and execution support for Private Foundations.  PFS facilitates over $500 million in annual giving on behalf of client foundations, collaborating with diverse grantee partners across various program areas.  The PFS Team, comprised of Program Officers and Grants Managers provides guidance and support to clients and internal partners around grant making and family philanthropy.  The group provides grant making services, assists in the development of funding strategies, and helps define and carry out philanthropic legacies.    

Role Overview: The Grants Manager will oversee the grants administration process for multiple philanthropic portfolios, ensuring alignment with established goals and objectives. This role involves developing innovative strategies to enhance performance, maintaining the integrity of the grants database, and generating related correspondence. The Grants Manager will coordinate with internal partners to optimize grant-making strategies, manage risks, and present grant recommendations for approval.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the grants administration process for multiple philanthropic portfolios for client foundations in a manner consistent with established goals and objectives
  • Develop, create and seek out new and better ways to meet and exceed high performance of grants administration functions
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the grants database 
  • Generate grants related correspondence (award, installment, grant agreement and declination letters) 
  • Process grants payments and provide an efficient process for tracking payments 
  • Answer general program questions received by phone/email 
  • Coordinate with multiple internal partners in local U.S. markets around grant making for foundations: 
    • Develop efficiencies around grant making strategy; 
    • Exercise various risk management procedures;
    • Prepare and present (in various formats) grant recommendations for approval. 
  • Provide support for PFS Program Officers and other PFS Grants Managers, and on occasion, other members of the Bank on client-related special projects and philanthropic advisory services 
  • Perform other tasks, as assigned.

Experience: 

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Related business experience in fiduciary and investment operations, accounting, paralegal, grant administration, or employment with a nonprofit organization is preferred.
