Wound Ostomy RN

The hospital-based Wound Ostomy Nurse serves as a clinical resource and consultant for patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems such as acute and chronic wounds (e.g., complex draining wounds, fistulae, pressure ulcers, vascular ulcers) ostomies, percutaneous tubes, and moisture-related skin injuries. Professional responsibilities are carried out through direct patient care, clinical consultation, education, research, and administration. The Wound Ostomy Nurse provides inpatient clinical services throughout the hospital, including the Emergency Department and Wound/Ostomy Care Clinic.

Required Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Texas Registered Nurse License
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association
  • 2 years Acute care experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing from an accredited school. Or equivalent educ/experience
  • Upon hire: Certification from the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB)
