About the Role
We’re looking for a People Operations Specialist to provide support to our US and Canada employee and manager population in providing workplace and leave accommodations.
The People Operations Specialist is primarily responsible for the administration to support our employees and managers with inquiries and supporting the continuous improvement of the accommodations program at Uber.
The ideal candidate is organized and will thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt as new priorities come up, and is able to manage a high-level of confidentiality. Strong communication skills, time management, and attention to detail, are key attributes in this role.
What You'll Do
- Administer the full accommodation process lifecycle for current and new employees.
- Manage and maintain accurate confidential employee data and documentation within Oracle (HRIS) and leave administration systems, ensuring compliance with local legislation.
- Serve as a resource to employees and leaders on medical and religious accommodations, providing support, education, and timely responses.
- Administer religious and state-mandated accommodations, ensuring full compliance with regional requirements.
- Prepare and issue all accommodation process letters and official notifications.
- Ensure data integrity by conducting regular audits and generating operational reports.
- Coordinate all required interactions with employees, managers, HR stakeholder teams, and external partners to manage accommodation issues.
- Partner closely with the Accommodations Program Manager and Employment Legal to resolve complex and escalated cases.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives and assist with compliance-focused ad-hoc projects.
- Effectively manage a fluctuating, high-volume caseload.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional, related experience as an HR generalist/advisor, business partner, or project/program manager in the human resources/benefits discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of US and/or Canadian employment practices, including ADA, FMLA, statutory leaves and disability policies and laws
- Workday experience and/or experience using Oracle or ServiceNow is a plus
- Experience with coaching line managers & peers on HR, benefits, and accommodation processes and supporting them in strengthening their leadership skills
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve sophisticated and sensitive HR issues/problems
- Excellent verbal written communication skills; and strong project management expertise
- Strong customer service and administrative experience; technically savvy.
For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $81,000 per year - USD $90,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
