As Director of Product Management, Digital Sovereignty, you will be Palo Alto Networks' definitive expert on the domain, owning the company's overall sovereign product strategy across our entire cybersecurity platform. Sovereignty is one of the defining forces reshaping how the world adopts cybersecurity — and AI raises the stakes: the more nations and regulated enterprises entrust to AI, the more they demand that their most sensitive data and operations stay under their own control and jurisdiction.
This is a high-visibility charter that spans our entire portfolio and sits within our Product Management organization. You will set the sovereignty strategy and standards that all our product platforms build against, serving as the company's authoritative voice on the topic with customers, partners and industry analysts. You will pair your deep command of the technical and architectural constructs of digital sovereignty with the ability to align product leaders and executives across business units and partner closely with our Legal and Privacy experts.
Key Responsibilities
Own the overall product strategy — Define, own, and continuously evolve the company-wide sovereign strategy and standards, translating the technical and architectural constructs of sovereignty into product direction — developed with product leadership and informed by our Legal and Privacy experts — so that "sovereign" means something consistent and defensible across the entire Palo Alto Networks platform.
Be the company's authority on the domain — Serve as Palo Alto Networks' subject-matter expert on sovereignty — data residency, operator/privileged-access restriction, encryption and key control, operational independence and survivability, and jurisdictional transparency — maintaining the definitive, forward-looking view of requirements across regions, regulators, and customer segments, and how they translate into product implications for a cybersecurity platform.
Guide and influence cross-BU initiatives — Partner with, guide, and consult product managers and leaders across business units as they build sovereign offerings — ensuring alignment to the shared strategy, consistency in technical approach and partner choices, and coherent customer-facing claims.
Establish standards and guardrails — Create the frameworks, decision criteria, and reference approaches that business units use to make sovereign product decisions, reducing duplicated effort and preventing divergent or contradictory implementations.
Align executives and secure investment — Translate complex strategy into clear, compelling narratives that build alignment among executive leadership and cross-functional partners, and secure the prioritization needed for the company to win in regulated and high-trust markets.
Represent PANW externally — Engage directly with customers, prospects, partners, regulators, and industry analysts to articulate the company's point of view, and bring market and competitive insight back to shape strategy.
Partner across functions to make it real — Work with engineering leadership, partnerships, go-to-market, and our Legal and Privacy experts to ensure the strategy accounts for the new technical, partnership, and operational models that sovereign offerings require.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
10+ years in product management, with at least 4 years in a lead or leadership role
Demonstrated product expertise in sovereign cloud and the technical constructs of data and operational sovereignty (e.g., data residency, operator/privileged-access restriction, encryption and key control, operational independence and survivability, jurisdictional transparency) and how they translate into product capabilities
Experience with GRC and cybersecurity products and frameworks
Proven ability to set strategy and drive alignment across business units and functions without direct authority — influencing product leaders and executives in a large, matrixed organization
Ability to partner effectively with Legal and Privacy experts and translate their guidance into sound product strategy
Very strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including with executive and analyst audiences
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and comfort in fast-paced environments with overlapping priorities and evolving requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of how AI adoption raises the stakes for sovereignty — helping customers embrace AI while retaining control of their most sensitive data and operations
Experience with partner/OEM structures and building products that require new business, legal, and partnership models
Familiarity with EU and other regulated/high-trust markets
BS/MS or equivalent experience
