Registered Nurse Clinical Supervisor
Job Description:
Full Time Position, Monday - Friday Day time hours.The RN Clinical Supervisor CSS supports the fundaments of safety, quality, patient experience, and stewardship by providing clinical expertise and leadership to a department/facility within Clinical Shared Services. This role offers strategic guidance, leadership, and supervision of daily clinical operations that include staffing models and oversight of staff performance. The incumbent has accountability for partnerships and alignment with both local and system leaders to support clinical initiatives that drive key performance indicators.

Acute Pain Services at St. George Regional Hospital is a collaborative, patient-centered team dedicated to improving pain management outcomes and enhancing the patient experience. Team members work closely with nursing, physicians, pharmacy, and other interdisciplinary partners while making a meaningful impact on patient care. - Full Time, Monday - Friday, Day time hours
- Very occasional/infrequent needs may be required for weekend coverage
- No regular evening, graveyard, holiday, or on-call requirements
Essential Functions
- Leadership and Supervision: Leads, coaches, and develops clinical caregivers, facilitates problem-solving and resource allocation, and models Intermountain Leadership Behaviors.
- Operational Effectiveness: Oversees daily operations, including physical plant, licensure, community relationships, and emergency response plans; ensures staffing and skill levels align with patient volume and acuity; ensures clinical staff compliance with pharmacy, medication safety, and infection prevention guidelines.
- Employee Engagement and Development: Collaborates with operational stakeholders on staffing, recruitment, and retention; conducts check-ins and supports professional development; coordinates with clinical education in the development of orientation and training materials for clinical staff.
- Clinical Quality and Patient Excellence: Develops processes for clinical excellence, quality care improvements, and effective care coordination; ensures clinical competency; monitors compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards; collaborates with stakeholders for best practices to enhance patient and caregiver satisfaction.
- Relationship Building and Collaboration: Maintains relationships with clinical and operational leaders; coaches teams on building integrated clinical care teams; partners with Clinical Risk, Safety, Quality, and Infection Prevention to identify trends and ensure mitigation.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
- Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree verification required). RNs must obtain their BSNs within four (4) years of hire or promotion date. If there is an existing education agreement, that agreement will take precedence.*
- Basic life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
- Demonstrated working knowledge of clinical processes within clinical specialty.
- Demonstrated communication skills in recommending quality, customer service, and safety measures.
- Demonstrated track record of effectively mentoring and developing staff.
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job’s description’s last update in June 2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
- Two (2) years of experience supervising clinical staff.
- Certification in a relevant clinical specialty area
- Candidate must have over one year of licensed RN experience
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
