As an General Technician, you’re not just maintaining the hotel’s physical safety and functionality – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.

Here's what you'll do during a typical day:

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct regular inspections and perform maintenance and repair tasks across different systems within the hotel, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural elements.

  • Diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions to ensure minimal downtime and disruption to hotel operations.

  • Coordinate with the Engineering and Housekeeping departments to schedule repairs and maintenance without compromising guest experience.

  • Utilize a wide range of tools and equipment to perform repairs and maintenance tasks effectively.

  • Stay updated with the latest standards and technologies in the maintenance field to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety protocols and regulations, minimizing risk to staff, guests, and property.

 

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTION

 

  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities performed, including parts used and time spent, to contribute to the accurate tracking of expenses and budget management.

  • Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment, and place orders as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness and budget compliance

     

What It Takes to Make the Stay

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company. 

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, operation manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of hotel/facility equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices, permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout, and risk assessment procedures.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), Guestroom Management System (GRMS) & Chiller Management System (CMS)
  • Ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot equipment failures, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Strong understanding of energy conservation practices and efficient operation of building services.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage workload efficiently, and respond effectively to emergency maintenance situations.
