JOB SUMMARY:
The Setter Process Owner position will be a dedicated full-time assignment reporting up through Howmet Engineer Manager and to the BU Core Process Owner.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for ensuring that the setter manufacturing processes are performed in compliance with the methods, materials, and equipment specifications as detailed in the Corporate Core Manuals (CP and AC) and associated ASAT.
Approve all new and revised Activity Instructions in the setter manufacturing area.
Responsible for determination of the root cause of any deviation from a critical process specification
Responsible for developing a timely and formal reaction plan which will include the notification of the local plant Engineering Manager and Plant Manager
Responsible for notifying the BU Process Owner via email of all out-of-control conditions for any critical process variable. If the reaction is not successful in bringing the critical process specification into compliance in a timely manner the BU Process Owner must be notified
Be a member of each tooling NPI team and will have design input for the setter master and rougher tools.
Establish and manage the setter control plan for Transfer, AC1200, and IGT setters. This will meet the core manual and ASAT requirements.
Coordinate dimensional studies of setters and cores.

Maintain visual controls and will incorporate daily checks of the critical process controls in compliance with the core process owner’s leader standard work (CP5001 and CP5002).
Report daily status to management and the BU Core Process Owner using the flash report
Report status of ASAT items monthly to management and BU Core Process Owner using the score card
Business travel may be required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: BS Ceramics, Chemical or Materials Engineering
EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years in ceramic related industry
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS: 8-10 years’ experience in ceramic core mfg. / thermal processing of ceramics or thermal processing
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED: Lifting setters, use of computers, Ability to handle temperature differentials
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Familiar with maintenance of kilns, Strong written and oral communication skills, Basic electrical, masonry, and mechanical skills desired, Lean Manufacturing (optional), Six Sigma (optional), PLC and controller programming required.
