Environmental Protection Specialist

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The employee works under the Fort Detrick Environmental Management Division, ensuring that hazardous materials (HM) management and hazardous waste (HW) management are handled in compliance with Army, Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements. Apply environmental laws and regulations to projects and studies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and the State of Maryland. Track hazardous materials and hazardous waste unit disposal, manifest, and billing are through a database program. Train hazardous waste personnel and staff on implementing regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures. Audit facilities for proper disposal of hazardous wastes (HW) and hazardous materials (HM).
