Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Patient Account Representative, you will be responsible for preparing and processing superbill charges and payments, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping.Every day you will meticulously post these charges and payments to patient accounts and efficiently schedule daily appointments, contributing to the smooth operation of patient billing and scheduling.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in financial transactions, strong organizational skills for scheduling, and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency in patient account management.
- Respond to inquiries and correspondence related to patient billing concerns.
- Validate complex insurance information.
- Process credit card transactions received directly from patients through the credit card machine. This position may have access to third party credit card information and transactional systems (cash registers, point of sale devices, applications supporting credit card transactions, and reports or other documents containing credit card information) from single transactions or a single card at a time.
- Follow-up with insurance carriers and Dignity Health Medical Foundation staff for information essential for proper billing and collections.
- Resolve claim edits.
- Process reports as needed to ensure efficient billing.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years minimum experience of administrative and/or customer service in a professional medical billing office
- Ability to read and explain an explanation of benefits (EOB) for HMO and FFS patients
- Ability to read and explain benefits and co-payment information
- Ability to communicate effectively during difficult situations
- Working knowledge of computers and demonstrated proficiency in using e-mail systems, Internet and MS office software applications
Preferred
- Six (6) months experience with IDX
