Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java-based backend development, API engineering, and modern software architecture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and building scalable enterprise applications and distributed systems, with exposure to frontend technologies such as React being highly desirable.
As a technical leader within our GCC engineering organization, you will drive application architecture, engineering best practices, technical mentorship, and the successful delivery of business-critical solutions. You will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Managers, QA Engineers, DevOps teams, and stakeholders across global locations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale software solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
- Drive architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making.
- Establish and promote software engineering best practices, coding standards, and design principles.
- Mentor and coach team members to support their professional growth.
Backend Development
- Design and build scalable backend services using Java and related technologies.
- Develop high-performance, secure, and reliable APIs and microservices.
- Implement business-critical functionality while ensuring maintainability and scalability.
- Optimize applications for performance, availability, and resilience.
API Engineering
- Design, develop, document, and maintain RESTful APIs and service integrations.
- Define API standards, versioning strategies, and governance practices.
- Ensure APIs meet security, reliability, and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with consuming applications and partner teams to drive API adoption.
Full Stack Development
- Contribute to frontend application development using React and modern JavaScript frameworks when required.
- Collaborate with UX and Product teams to deliver intuitive user experiences.
- Develop reusable UI components and shared libraries.
Architecture & System Design
- Design distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native solutions.
- Evaluate architectural tradeoffs and recommend appropriate technology solutions.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects and platform teams.
- Drive modernization initiatives and technical debt reduction efforts.
DevOps & Quality
- Support CI/CD implementation and release automation.
- Participate in code reviews, testing strategies, and production support activities.
- Ensure observability, monitoring, logging, and operational excellence practices are adopted.
- Implement secure coding and SDLC practices.
Agile Delivery
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release planning activities.
- Collaborate effectively with globally distributed engineering teams.
- Support delivery commitments while balancing technical excellence and business priorities.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
Experience
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java backend development.
- Extensive experience developing and supporting APIs and microservices.
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery models.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale applications in production environments.
