About the Position: Serve as a Paralegal Specialist with primary duties focused on processing Freedom of Information Act requests and litigation support, but also including: tort claims, contract claims, contract protests, regulatory appeals, administrative records, environmental compliance related issues, civil works, labor and employment law, and real estate law.
Research statutory, regulatory, court and/or administrative precedents and other legal opinions or documentary material
Prepare comprehensive digests, summaries, or reports which serve as the basis for judicial, administrative or other legal arguments
Act as liaison between the Corps and other agencies at all levels of Government to ascertain records, reports, documents, etc., requested in connection with pending legal matters.
Examine, evaluate, and coordinate requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act; research relevant legislation, regulations, and precedents; determines if documents or segregable portions of them can be released.
Assist Contract Attorneys by conducting research, gathering, and assembling documents from many different sources and locations, and identifying relevant documents.
Receive, analyzes and draft litigation reports for use by higher headquarters and the Department of Justice.
Research statutory, regulatory, court and/or administrative precedents and other legal opinions or documentary material.
