Provide Strategic Legal Counsel: Deliver expert legal guidance on environmental laws, administrative regulations, and permitting requirements at local and national levels to support ongoing and future corporate initiatives.
Proactively Monitor Regulatory Trends: Track, interpret, and analyze emerging environmental, administrative, and potential tax/customs legislation, evaluating risks and preparing the organization for future policy changes.
Lead Compliance Initiatives: Oversee and implement robust environmental compliance strategies, internal policies, and audit processes to minimize legal exposure and promote sustainable business practices.
Manage Agency Relations & Audits: Serve as the key legal point of contact during inspections, regulatory audits, and permit applications, fostering collaborative and productive relationships with government agencies.
Draft & Negotiate Key Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, legal documents, and compliance frameworks related to environmental, operational, and regulatory affairs.
- Collaborate and Educate: Partner with cross-functional teams to provide practical training on regulatory requirements and manage relationships with external legal counsel, consultants, and key stakeholders.
Educational & Professional Credentials: Law degree along with an active license to practice law in good standing.
Relevant Legal Experience: Typically 5+ years of professional experience specializing in environmental and regulatory law, ideally within a corporate, in-house, or top-tier law firm setting representing multinational corporations.
Domain Expertise: Solid understanding of environmental regulations, administrative laws, and compliance frameworks, with familiarity in coordinating permitting processes and regulatory audits.
Modern Legal & Tech Literacy: Proficiency with industry-standard legal research tools (such as LexisNexis or Westlaw), Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platforms, and standard enterprise productivity suites.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into clear, actionable advice for non-legal stakeholders.
Specialized Administrative Focus: Prior experience handling regulatory compliance or legal matters related to corporate administrative, customs, or tax law.
Advanced Legal Credentials: A Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Environmental Law, or a recognized professional certification in compliance or environmental management.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional compliance programs, conducting internal investigations, or managing environmental response strategies.
