Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Medical ICU Charge RN, you will provide direct nursing care to patients with sepsis, DKA, post cardiac arrest, respiratory failure and various other medical conditions for this 36-bed unit to medical ICU. you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care adds tremendous value to our nursing team. Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives. You will provide oversight of the activities on the nursing unit during a specific shift including serving as a resource to staff, directing patient flow, assuring appropriate utilization of resources, and providing oversight for the provision of quality care in a manner satisfying to patients.To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.
- Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in inservice education.
- Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.
- Evaluates care given by staff.
- Coaches to improve care.
- Ensures standard of care is maintained.
- Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult
Job Requirements
Required
- Associates Other ADN, Diploma, or foreign equivalent
- Registered Nurse: AZ or compact state license
- American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 6 - months
Preferred
- Bachelors Of Science in Nursing
- Two (2) years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty
- Previous Charge Nurse experience
- Previous experience with personal computers
