Journeyperson Electrician

The Journeyperson Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems that support high-performance computing (HPC) environment. This role requires expertise in electrical distribution systems, backup power infrastructure, and the integration of cooling technologies unique to HPC facilities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-driven, and experienced in maintaining mission-critical environment.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years as an Industrial/Heavy Commercial electrician.
High Voltage experience is an asset.
Red Seal Electrician license.
Pass a Criminal Record Check.
Valid Class 5 driver's license required.
Must be reliable, able to take initiative and work as a team.
Be self-motivated, reliable, flexible and proactive with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor industrial settings; including adverse weather conditions and at heights
Able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs (23kgs) and work in challenging conditions
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Operating equipment such as skid steer, telehandler and aerial boom lift are considered a strong asset.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
Must be able to work on a 4-on and 4-off rotational schedule that includes both day and night shifts. Must be able to work overnight when scheduled and maintain productivity during non-standard hours.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems supporting HPC operations, including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, grounding, generators, and distribution panels.
Support specialized electrical integration of cooling systems, including pump power, flow sensors, heat exchangers, and control circuits.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and control issues related to HPC racks, cooling distribution units (CDUs), and facility power systems.
Operate, maintain, and test standby generators to ensure reliable emergency power availability; perform load testing, fuel system inspections, and automatic transfer switch (ATS) functionality checks.
Conduct routine inspections, electrical testing, and infrared thermography to identify potential failures before downtime occurs.
Ensure proper electrical load balancing and monitoring across HPC clusters, cooling infrastructure, and backup power systems.
Work closely with mechanical, controls, and IT teams to coordinate electrical support for cooling and power infrastructure.
Maintain compliance with TSBC, WSBC, NFPA and facility-specific safety requirements.
Read and interpret drawings, schematics and have a good understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code.
Document maintenance activities, system readings, and repair actions in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency electrical/cooling/power issues as required.
Install, examine, replace and repair AC motors, VFDs, PLCs, 600v and 416v distribution, 120/240v control and branch circuits, switchgears, transformers and relays.
Operate, inspect and maintain a 138KV-25KV 80MW substation.
Operate, inspect and maintain 25KV switchgears and transformers.
Bend and install EMT, underground conduits, pull armored cables wires and terminate.
Pulls and terminate fiber optic and Network cabling.
Assists on non-electrical tasks when help is required.
Able to perform in a fast-paced environment when required.
Able to work overtime as and when require
