Accountabilities:

    • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic legal counsel across corporate, commercial, regulatory, privacy, employment, IP, and risk management matters.
    • Lead the development and scaling of the internal legal function, building processes, systems, and team structures that support rapid organizational growth.
    • Oversee, draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial agreements across multiple business units, ensuring legal and business alignment.
    • Manage relationships with external counsel, selecting and overseeing legal vendors and ensuring efficient handling of specialized legal matters.
    • Provide legal guidance on governance, compliance, and regulatory obligations across a fast-paced technology and fintech environment.
    • Develop and deliver training and presentations for executives, employees, and the Board on key legal and compliance topics.
    • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing legal team, fostering strong collaboration and professional development.
    • Continuously improve legal processes, templates, and frameworks to enable speed, efficiency, and scalable operations.
    • Requirements:

      • 10+ years of legal experience, combining law firm practice (preferably Am Law 200) and in-house counsel roles in high-growth environments.
      • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in the California or New York State Bar.
      • Prior experience as General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel, ideally within a technology or high-growth startup environment.
      • Proven track record of building, leading, and scaling legal teams in fast-paced organizations.
      • Strong expertise in corporate law, commercial contracting, privacy, data use, intellectual property, and regulatory frameworks.
      • Experience in fintech or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
      • Strong ability to provide clear, practical legal advice in ambiguous and fast-moving situations.
      • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executive and board-level audiences.
      • Strong project management and organizational skills with a proactive, hands-on leadership approach.
      • Ability to build trusted relationships across internal teams and external partners.
