About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Empower LOS QA Tester to join our Mortgage Technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of the Dark Matter Empower Loan Origination System (LOS) through comprehensive testing activities. This role requires strong expertise in mortgage lending processes, Empower LOS functionality, quality assurance methodologies, and regulatory compliance testing.

The successful candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders, configuration analysts, developers, and vendor teams to validate system enhancements, integrations, and configurations while ensuring seamless mortgage operations across the complete loan lifecycle.

In This Role, You Will

  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts for Dark Matter Empower LOS enhancements, configurations, integrations, and system upgrades to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Validate Empower LOS functionality across the complete mortgage loan lifecycle, including loan application, processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and post-closing activities.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to verify that business requirements and configuration changes are implemented accurately.
  • Analyse business and technical requirements and create comprehensive test scenarios that ensure complete coverage of mortgage workflows, business rules, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects using defect management tools, working closely with Configuration Analysts, Developers, Business Analysts, and Vendor Support teams to achieve timely resolution.
  • Validate third-party integrations including Point-of-Sale (POS), credit vendors, pricing engines, compliance services, document management systems, and other Empower ecosystem components.
  • Conduct data validation and reporting verification by reviewing loan data, workflow outcomes, calculations, automated conditions, and system-generated reports to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support regulatory and compliance testing for mortgage lending requirements, ensuring system functionality aligns with investor guidelines and regulatory standards such as TRID, RESPA, HMDA, and CFPB requirements.
  • Participate in release management activities by executing smoke tests, deployment validations, production verification testing, and post-implementation quality reviews.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and business users to understand expected system behaviour, support UAT activities, provide testing status reports, and recommend quality improvements that enhance the overall Empower LOS user experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of Quality Assurance and Testing experience with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience testing Dark Matter Empower LOS.
  • Strong knowledge of the mortgage lending lifecycle, including origination, processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and post-closing activities.
  • Experience in Functional Testing, Regression Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Solid understanding of mortgage compliance and regulatory requirements including TRID, RESPA, HMDA, and CFPB guidelines.
  • Experience working with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, or similar platforms.
  • Experience validating LOS integrations with third-party mortgage applications and services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries and data validation techniques.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Dark Matter Empower LOS configuration validation and release testing.
  • Knowledge of mortgage servicing platforms and related ecosystem applications.
  • Exposure to test automation tools and automation testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with APIs, web services, and integration testing methodologies.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based mortgage technology platforms.
  • Certification in Software Testing (ISTQB, CSTE, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Agile/Scrum certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with offshore/onshore delivery models.

  • Maintain comprehensive test documentation and testing evidence for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Provide accurate testing estimates, status updates, and risk assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and release objectives.
  • Support production deployments and perform post-release validation activities as required.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership, accountability, and commitment to quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Stay current with mortgage industry trends, regulatory updates, and Empower LOS product enhancements.
