Work Culture

About the role

A pivotal leadership role within Raytheon UK Services, the Associate Director, Business Development will drive the delivery of the organisation’s growth strategy and future business success. Working as a key member of the Services Leadership Team, you will lead the development and execution of a coherent growth agenda across the Space & ISR, Training Transformation, and Cyber & Intelligence mission areas.

You will be responsible for identifying, shaping and securing strategic opportunities, ensuring a high-quality pipeline that delivers sustainable and profitable growth. Leading a team of business development professionals, you will influence investment and capture decisions, select the right opportunities to pursue, and develop winning strategies that maximise contract awards. This role combines strategic thinking, leadership and commercial acumen to translate business objectives into tangible growth outcomes and long-term customer value.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant Business Development, Capture Management or Growth Leadership experience within a complex organisation.
  • Proven track record of developing, maturing and converting strategic opportunities into contract awards.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, bringing together stakeholders from programme management, finance, commercial, technical and operational functions.
  • Demonstrable success in developing and executing growth strategies that deliver sustainable, profitable business growth.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with customers, partners, industry stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a matrix organisation, balancing strategic objectives with operational delivery.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience influencing investment decisions, pipeline prioritisation and business planning activities.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and drive decision-making.
  • Experience leading high-value, strategically important bids and developing winning capture strategies.
  • Strong planning, organisational and governance skills, with a focus on performance, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to align business development activity to organisational strategy and long-term growth objectives.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience working within the Defence, Aerospace, National Security or Government sectors.
  • Knowledge of UK MOD procurement processes and government acquisition frameworks.
  • Experience applying structured business winning or capture methodologies such as RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM) or equivalent.
  • Domain expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Space & ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance)
    • Cyber & Intelligence
    • Training Transformation
    • Defence Support Services
  • Experience delivering services to UK public sector customers.
  • Understanding of long-range planning, annual operating plans and investment governance processes.
  • Existing network of relationships across defence primes, government customers and industry partners.
  • Knowledge of security, compliance and information assurance requirements within regulated environments.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC), with the ability to operate within secure government and MOD environments.
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance if required.
