Job Description

Oracle Project Manager – Roles and Responsibilities

An Oracle Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and delivering Oracle implementation, upgrade, migration, and support projects while ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet business objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Management
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Estimate project timelines, budgets, and effort.
  • Manage project lifecycle from initiation through closure.
  • Ensure adherence to project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
2. Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and expectations.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and steering committee reviews.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to leadership.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project.
3. Team Leadership
  • Lead cross-functional teams comprising Oracle functional consultants, technical consultants, developers, architects, QA, and infrastructure teams.
  • Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance.
  • Foster collaboration across business and IT teams.
  • Resolve conflicts and remove project roadblocks.
4. Oracle ERP Implementation Oversight
  • Manage Oracle implementation projects such as: Oracle Cloud ERP Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Oracle Fusion Applications Oracle SCM Oracle HCM Oracle Financials Oracle Procurement
  • Ensure Oracle best practices are followed during implementation.
5. Budget and Resource Management
  • Track project budgets and expenditures.
  • Optimize resource utilization.
  • Manage vendor and contractor engagements.
  • Forecast resource requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Risk and Issue Management
  • Identify project risks and dependencies.
  • Develop mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Track issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Escalate critical risks to senior management when required.
7. Change Management
  • Manage scope changes through formal change control processes.
  • Assess business impact of changes.
  • Coordinate approvals and implementation of approved changes.
8. Quality Assurance
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Review functional and technical documentation.
  • Monitor testing phases including: Unit Testing System Integration Testing (SIT) User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Performance Testing
  • Ensure successful production deployment.
9. Vendor and Client Coordination
  • Coordinate with Oracle, implementation partners, and third-party vendors.
  • Manage contracts, Statements of Work (SOWs), and vendor deliverables.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met.
10. Deployment and Go-Live Management
  • Develop cutover and deployment plans.
  • Coordinate production readiness activities.
  • Monitor go-live execution.
  • Ensure hypercare support after deployment.
11. Governance and Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to organizational governance standards.
  • Maintain project documentation and audit readiness.
  • Track KPIs and project metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
12. Reporting
  • Prepare: Weekly project status reports Executive dashboards RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs Resource utilization reports Budget reports Milestone tracking reports
