We are looking for a talented Quality Technician III to join our 3rd shift team specializing in Quality in our Cummins Drivetrain and Breaking Systems Business Unit facility in Morristown, TN.

The Quality Technician III supports Engineers in carrying out production-related and inspection jobs; assists in monitor materials quality in processing plants and making the required adjustments; ensures maintenance of documentation and records. Works under minimal supervision.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Ensure product quality and compliance by comparing components, materials, and finished products against technical specifications to identify defects before they impact customers.
  • Improve confidence in product performance by conducting functional, reliability, and packaging tests that verify products meet quality and operational requirements.
  • Provide accurate and reliable measurement data by using a variety of precision measurement and test equipment to evaluate product and component performance.
  • Support data-driven quality decisions by documenting test results, analyzing findings, and preparing clear technical reports that help teams address issues and drive improvements.
  • Enhance testing capabilities by programming, operating, and providing training on advanced measurement and test equipment to ensure consistent and effective use across the organization.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource by helping customers understand product specifications, measurement results, and how data applies to their specific applications.
  • Strengthen measurement accuracy and reliability by participating in measurement uncertainty studies that improve confidence in testing, calibration, and quality outcomes.
  • Maintain world-class testing standards by ensuring measurement and test equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, supporting accurate results, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

  • Maintain a strong customer focus by understanding customer requirements, providing accurate measurement support, and delivering solutions that enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Make sound, data-driven decisions by evaluating measurement data, quality trends, and testing outcomes to identify issues, determine root causes, and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Apply measurement science and metrology principles by understanding measurement uncertainty, ensuring traceability, and maintaining confidence in testing, calibration, and laboratory results.
  • Utilize quality tools and process management techniques such as APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, capability studies, audits, and inspections to drive consistent product and process quality.
  • Effectively manage laboratory operations and resources by maintaining equipment, supporting accreditation requirements, optimizing laboratory performance, resolving conflicts professionally, and leveraging diverse perspectives to strengthen team and business outcomes.

 

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

 

Experience: 

  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Able to work in varying temperature environments.
  • Able to lift and move up to 40 pounds.

 

Base Rate Range:  $20.51/hr - $23.75/hr

Shift Premium:  $1.00/hr

Work Schedule:  

Monday - Friday 11:00PM - 7:20AM (with planned OT on weekends as needed)
