Mission:
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our Japan finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Japanese GAAP, hands-on experience in monthly closing, tax compliance, and payroll coordination, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including HR, IT, and Controlling. This role requires someone who can work independently, proactively identify and resolve issues, and support both local and regional finance initiatives.
ACTIVITIES
Financial Accounting & Closing- Manage and perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing under Japanese GAAP.
- Ensure accurate and timely journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Handle Revenue Recognition and related accounting treatments.
- Prepare and analyze Cash Flow Forecast and other financial analysis reports.
Collaboration & Cross-functional Support
- Work closely with the HR team for monthly payroll calculation and related accounting entries.
- Collaborate with the IT team to troubleshoot and improve financial system processes.
- Partner with the Controlling team to ensure alignment with budget, forecast, and reporting requirements.
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
- Handle AP/AR reconciliation and ensure accuracy in transaction postings.
- Support payment processing and vendor/customer management.
Taxation & Compliance
- Manage local tax filing, including VAT (Consumption Tax) and Corporate Income Tax.
- Liaise with external tax advisors and accounting firms to ensure compliance with Japanese regulations.
- Support audit requests and maintain proper documentation.
System & Process Improvement
- Support Oracle system operations, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
JOB EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in multinational companies.
- Solid knowledge of Japanese GAAP and local tax regulations.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP or other major ERP systems.
- CPA qualification (Japan or other country) is a strong plus.
- Self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of ownership.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.
- Culturally adaptable and comfortable working in a global team.
