Accountabilities:
- Own end-to-end trade surveillance operations, identifying emerging exploit strategies and developing detection frameworks before new risks impact the business.
- Create and refine surveillance logic, enforcement policies, and escalation processes based on financial impact and business objectives.
- Establish risk standards and documentation practices that support consistent enforcement and dispute resolution.
- Define and manage the overall trading risk posture, including the ability to challenge and prevent initiatives that introduce unacceptable risk.
- Translate data insights into actionable policies, controls, and operational improvements.
- Lead risk management initiatives for live trading environments as operations expand, collaborating with external partners and risk technology providers.
- Bridge simulated trading risk controls with live brokerage risk management strategies.
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing risk and surveillance team.
- Partner with fraud, identity, payments, data, and operational teams to strengthen risk intelligence and information sharing.
- Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations directly to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making.
- Professional experience in futures, derivatives, proprietary trading, brokerage, or similar financial markets environments.
- Proven experience leading trading risk, surveillance, trust and safety, or fraud prevention functions.
- Strong understanding of trader behavior and the ability to differentiate legitimate strategies from exploitative activity.
- Experience designing and implementing detection systems, risk policies, and enforcement frameworks in adversarial environments.
- Familiarity with brokerage platforms, order management systems (OMS), or risk management systems (RMS) preferred.
- Ability to evaluate risk decisions through business impact, precision, and recall trade-offs.
- Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing analytical teams.
- Experience influencing business decisions and stopping initiatives based on risk considerations.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex risk topics clearly to executives.
- CRMP or FRM certification preferred.
- Series 3 license is a plus but not required.
- A proactive, curious, and improvement-oriented mindset with a passion for innovation and optimization.
- Competitive annual salary range of $225,000 - $250,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
