Physician - Chief Health Informatics Officer

The VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS) Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) is a leadership position that will oversee program operations related to clinical informatics, including strategic planning and program development, across all VACCHCS sites of care. The position will ensure that clinical and administrative functions are integrated in order to provide optimum utilization of available resources. This position will report to the VACCHCS Chief of Staff. **This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 25th, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be June 8th, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Obtains, interprets, and analyzes disparate data sets from a variety of sources including the Clinical Data Warehouse, VISTA, VSSC, Pyramid Analytics, etc. to support the delivery of patient care. Oversees the deployment of Electronic Health Record Modernization (Cerner) across VACCHCS sites and coordinates with VISN 21 sites. Serves as a leader and expert in change management, analyzing and evaluating clinical and administrative processes related to information and data flow. Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life. Demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others Other duties as assigned.
