Collins Aerospace is seeking a Test Engineer to join the Test Support Engineering (TSE) team. This role is responsible for the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modernization of automated and manual test equipment used to support manufacturing and product verification. The Test Engineer will work closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Software Engineering, and Program teams to ensure test systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, modify, and support automated and manual test equipment systems.
- Troubleshoot complex test equipment failures involving hardware, software, instrumentation, and communications interfaces.
- Develop and maintain test software applications, scripts, and automation tools.
- Implement engineering changes, upgrades, and modernization efforts for existing test systems.
- Support installation, integration, validation, and qualification of new test equipment.
- Analyze test system performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and uptime.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, software documentation, test procedures, and technical work instructions.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and test instrumentation to troubleshoot electronic assemblies to the circuit card and component level.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for test equipment.
- Investigate recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production and test-related issues.
- Maintain configuration control and ensure compliance with engineering and quality requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to technicians, operators, and manufacturing personnel.
- Effectively communicate project status, technical issues, and risk mitigation plans to leadership and stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be able to perform the following functions, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Distinguish colors and meet vision requirements. Bend, stoop, reach, and lift equipment or tooling as required. Use hands for extended periods to perform testing, troubleshooting, and assembly tasks. Sit or stand for extended periods while supporting engineering activities. Lift up to 25 pounds unassisted. Transport equipment and materials with or without carts or lifting devices.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, electrical circuits, and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of automated test systems and data acquisition hardware.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Programming experience using languages such as LabVIEW, C#, Python, C++, or similar.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as Ethernet, RS-232, RS-485, ARINC 429, CAN Bus, USB, or other industry-standard interfaces.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power analyzers, signal generators, and other electronic test equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering software tools.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or automated test environments.
- Experience with National Instruments (NI) hardware and LabVIEW development.
- Knowledge of test equipment architecture, system integration, and hardware/software troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with configuration management, requirements management, and engineering change processes.
- Experience leading equipment modernization, obsolescence management, or capital equipment projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
