A Day in The Life Of:

This role is primarily focused on DevOps, CI/CD pipeline engineering, build and release automation, and tooling development to support the PathMakers platform, while also requiring broader software engineering capability that can be applied across Device Managers teams as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and efficient software delivery.
  • Develop and support build, release, and automation tooling across the development lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve build, integration, and deployment issues in both local and pipeline environments.
  • Create scripts and automation to reduce manual effort, improve repeatability, and increase delivery efficiency.
  • Explore and apply AI-enabled tools and automation opportunities that improve engineering productivity, build and release efficiency, and issue investigation workflows.
  • Support source control best practices, including repository setup, branching, pull requests, merges, and conflict resolution.
  • Work closely with software engineers and cross-functional teams to support development workflows, release readiness, and delivery execution.
  • Contribute to tool and process improvements that strengthen quality, reliability, and predictability across the engineering workflow.
  • Support certificate and provisioning profile management, mobile application packaging, and release activities for Apple platforms.
  • Apply software engineering skills to design and develop utilities, tools, and automation needed to support the platform.
  • Participate in technical reviews, problem-solving discussions, and root cause analysis to resolve complex issues and improve team effectiveness.
  • Help define and standardize engineering practices across CI/CD, automation, build, and release activities.

Key Skills & Experience  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering, build and release engineering, DevOps, software verification, or test systems development, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Azure Pipelines, Azure DevOps templates, GitHub, and Git, including repository creation, branching and merges, pull request creation, pipeline creation and maintenance, and merge conflict resolution.
  • Experience using Visual Studio, VS Code, Xcode, and SonarQube for build, compilation, and static code analysis.
  • Familiarity with Windows and iOS operating systems.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, and shell scripting
  • Experience with MS Build, C# concepts, .NET, with the ability to develop tools and automation to support the mobility platform.
  • Experience with NuGet, JFrog Artifactory, and Azure artifacts, including package creation, versioning, publishing, and consumption.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, including Azure DevOps Services APIs and OpenAPI/Swagger.
  • Experience with Apple certificate and provisioning profile management, iOS application packaging, and App Store submission. Familiarity with Apple TestFlight is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including automation and scheduling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve build issues locally and in pipeline environments.
  • Experience developing software for medical devices or other regulated products.
  • Strong experience with Agile development methodologies and Test‑Driven Development (TDD).
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross‑functional environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation and influence technical direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence technical decisions.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
