This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for Mathematics Researchers based in India.

This role is designed for highly accomplished mathematicians who want to apply their expertise to the advancement of next-generation AI systems focused on deep mathematical reasoning. You will contribute to training and evaluating frontier models capable of solving and reasoning across advanced domains such as algebra, topology, analysis, number theory, probability, combinatorics, logic, and mathematical physics. The work sits at the intersection of pure research mathematics and artificial intelligence, requiring a research-level understanding rather than textbook familiarity. You will help identify subtle reasoning gaps in AI systems, design challenging mathematical problems, and assess model-generated proofs and solutions. The environment is highly selective, research-driven, and collaborative, engaging with senior contributors and technical experts. This is an opportunity to directly influence the mathematical intelligence capabilities of advanced AI systems.

Accountabilities:

    • Design, author, and review advanced mathematical problems used to train and evaluate frontier AI reasoning systems.
    • Evaluate model outputs across proof construction, theorem verification, problem-solving, formalization, and conjecture exploration.
    • Identify and articulate subtle reasoning errors in model outputs, including incorrect assumptions, invalid steps, or incomplete proofs.
    • Collaborate with research teams and senior mathematicians to improve dataset quality and reasoning benchmarks.
    • Contribute to refining evaluation standards for mathematical rigor in AI systems.
    • Support continuous improvement of problem design by incorporating feedback from model performance analysis.
    • Requirements:

      • Advanced academic background in Mathematics or closely related fields (PhD, postdoc, or equivalent research experience strongly preferred).
      • Demonstrated research-level expertise in at least one advanced mathematical domain such as algebra, topology, analysis, number theory, combinatorics, logic, or mathematical physics.
      • Evidence of high-impact academic output (peer-reviewed publications, top-tier journals, or equivalent research contributions).
      • Strong analytical and abstract reasoning skills with the ability to evaluate complex mathematical arguments rigorously.
      • Experience in formal proof construction, mathematical problem design, or theoretical research is highly desirable.
      • Prior exposure to advanced research environments, fellowships, or competitive academic achievements is a strong advantage.
      • Excellent written communication skills for clearly articulating mathematical reasoning and critique.
      • Ability to work independently in a research-intensive, part-time, remote setting.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive hourly compensation aligned with research seniority and academic achievements.
        • Flexible part-time engagement (8–20 hours per week).
        • Remote work arrangement with autonomy over schedule.
        • Opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge AI research in mathematical reasoning.
        • Collaboration with leading researchers and advanced AI labs.
        • Long-term engagement potential based on program needs and performance.
