As a Lead Software Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of complex systems and solutions that drive innovation, safety, and efficiency in the aerospace industry. You will report directly to our Director of Engineering, working out of Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will impact the development and delivery of cutting-edge solutions that support Honeywell Aerospace’s aerospace initiatives, helping to drive innovation and maintain our leadership in the industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
On our team, you will have the opportunity to work on next-generation and new product development projects, directly contributing to the advancement of aviation technology in the Airborne Traffic, Collision Avoidance & Surveillance Avionics space. You will have ownership for systems engineering development at every aspect of the systems life cycle.
- Lead a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship on critical technology projects.
- Drive customer engagement while delivering programs on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions in accordance with project specifications.
- Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices
- Ensure the timely and successful delivery of software projects within scope and budget
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering
- Ability to code in multiple languages.

YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working in various application areas supporting Avionics functions, Navigation and Airborne Surveillance (TCAS, Transponder, ADS-B, DME, UAT).
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Assembly
- Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
- Deep understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles.
- Ability to manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
