The Marshall Career Services team, comprised of more than 30 professional staff, and more than 30 undergraduate and graduate student staff, lead the charge to ensure all of Marshall’s approximately 8,200 undergraduate, specialty MS, and MBA students have the support and connections to achieve their professional goals. The Associate Director of Employer Relations plays a critical role in sustaining and advancing employer partnerships that generate internship and full-time employment opportunities for USC Marshall students. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Employer Relations, this position is responsible for executing employer engagement strategies, managing recruiting operations, and maintaining key employer-facing systems and processes.
The Associate Director plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of employer relations, ensuring high-quality service delivery to employers while supporting strategic initiatives set by the Senior Associate Director. This role requires strong relationship management, data-informed decision making, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This role is essential to maintaining USC Marshall’s employer engagement infrastructure. The Associate Director ensures timely employer support, consistent recruiting operations, and sustained partnership development. Success in this role directly contributes to student access to opportunities, employer satisfaction, and the School’s overall career outcomes and reputation.
Responsibilities and Duties
Employer Relations & Engagement
- Manage and maintain relationships with a portfolio of employers to support internship and full-time recruiting efforts.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employer inquiries, onboarding, and ongoing engagement.
- Execute targeted outreach strategies to expand employer partnerships across key industries and functions.
- Support employer retention through consistent communication, responsiveness, and high-quality service delivery.
Recruiting & Event Execution
- Lead execution of employer-facing recruiting activities including career fairs (virtual and in-person), information sessions, coffee chats, and networking events.
- Coordinate logistics including scheduling, employer preparation, student engagement, and post-event follow-up.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of recruiting programs and events.
Systems Management & Data Analytics
- Oversee daily operations of Handshake, including employer approvals, job postings, and system utilization.
- Monitor and analyze key metrics including employer engagement, job postings, student adoption, and event participation.
- Generate regular and ad hoc reports to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
Corporate Partners Program
- Support management and execution of the Corporate Partners Program, including tracking engagement, responding to partner needs, and coordinating related events.
- Ensure consistent delivery of partner benefits and a high-touch engagement experience.
Communications & Marketing
- Develop and execute employer and student communications related to recruiting activities and events.
- Maintain employer-facing web content and contribute to newsletters and marketing materials.
- Ensure messaging aligns with Marshall Career Services branding and engagement goals.
Collaboration & Team Contribution
- Partner closely with the Senior Associate Director to implement employer engagement strategies and priorities.
- Collaborate with career education teams and campus partners to align employer outreach and student opportunities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, systems, and service delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in employer relations, university recruiting, or talent acquisition.
- Strong understanding of college recruiting trends and employer engagement strategies.
- Experience with career management platforms such as Handshake or similar systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale events and multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on relationship management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
- Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in employer relations, recruiting, program management, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, analyze data, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Anticipated Hiring Range:
The salary range for this position is $76,442.59 - $100,145.99. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Experience: 3 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Bachelor’s degree in counseling, higher education, human resources, or related field. Three years’ experience in career services, human resources, recruiting, or related industries, with some experience in a coaching or leadership role. Ability to manage, balance, and prioritize different tasks and projects. In-depth knowledge of federal immigration employment regulations and processes, interpreting and providing guidance as to their pertinence to international students. Advanced knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, and occupational, career, and employment information sources. Superior level of professionalism, exceptional attention to detail, and exemplary written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience interacting with diverse groups, exercising diplomacy, good judgment, and discretion.
