This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Experimental Fluid Mechanics: Two-Phase Flow & Nozzle Testing specialist based in United States.

This role is a hands-on experimental engineering opportunity focused on designing, executing, and refining a high-precision test program for a proprietary two-phase flow nozzle system. You will work at the intersection of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and experimental instrumentation to characterize complex multiphase flows under controlled conditions. The work centers on building reliable, repeatable methodologies for thrust measurement and detailed flow analysis in intermediate-temperature energy systems. You will be responsible for reducing experimental uncertainty and isolating nozzle performance through rigorous test design. The position requires deep technical expertise and a highly analytical mindset, with significant emphasis on data quality, instrumentation accuracy, and experimental control. You will collaborate with engineering teams to translate raw experimental outputs into actionable design insights. This is a highly specialized, impact-driven role where your work directly informs system performance and future design iterations.

    • Measure and analyze key performance variables such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, and phase interactions.
    • Reduce experimental noise and variability by isolating nozzle-specific performance factors and improving test repeatability.
    • Recommend and implement appropriate instrumentation, sensors, and test fixtures to enhance data fidelity.
    • Analyze experimental results and provide technical recommendations to improve nozzle design and overall test methodology.
    • Requirements:

      • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
      • Strong hands-on experience in experimental fluid mechanics, particularly two-phase flow systems or multiphase thermofluid testing.
      • Proven background in nozzle testing, thrust measurement systems, or propulsion-related experimental setups.
      • Experience with refrigerant systems, organic Rankine cycle systems, HVAC, or related thermal-fluid applications.
      • Strong expertise in instrumentation, experimental design, and data acquisition systems.
      • Ability to design and execute complex laboratory or field test programs with high precision and repeatability.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to experimental rigor and data quality.
      • Willingness and ability to travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for on-site testing support.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive contract-based compensation aligned with expertise and scope of work.
        • Opportunity to work on advanced experimental energy and fluid systems with high technical impact.
        • Flexible, remote-first engagement with periodic on-site testing requirements.
        • Hands-on involvement in cutting-edge two-phase flow and nozzle performance research.
        • Direct influence on system design, validation, and performance optimization.
        • Collaboration with specialized engineering teams in a high-innovation environment.
        • Exposure to advanced experimental methodologies and instrumentation systems.
