$60,431.00 - $84,603.00The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
LLE is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical engineer to support Cryogenic & Tritium Facility operations producing and supporting tritium filled targets for use on the Omega Laser system. Work will include supporting cryogenic and vacuum systems through data-driven analysis, technical evaluation, and hands-on operation and testing. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong STEM background who enjoys problem-solving, working with technical equipment, and collaborating across engineering teams.The successful candidate must be willing to work shift assignments when required, including overnight hours, to support operational needs and testing schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Complete qualification and stand watch in operation of the cryogenic and tritium facility including non-standard shift hours as needed
- Perform engineering analysis to support subsystem development, performance, evaluation, operational activities and ensure system safety
- Collect, process, and interpret technical data to identify trends, anomalies, and performance improvements
- Qualifying as a NYS Radiation Worker within 12 months of being hired.
- Maintaining radiological containment areas.
- Conduct laboratory and field-testing using equipment such as oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools
- Support validation and verification activities through structured test planning and documentation
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and test plans to provide clear direction for technicians and operators
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, engineers, and technicians
- Support system upgrade projects and software development. Will have responsibility over minor aspects under the direction of a project manager.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM field and 2 years of relevant experience required
