We’re looking for an experienced Software Architect to lead the evolution of one of OCI’s most critical platform services—a high-scale workflow orchestration engine responsible for coordinating the creation of cloud resources across compute, storage, networking, and other foundational services.
Every time an OCI customer provisions a resource, dozens of distributed operations must execute reliably and consistently. Our Workflow platform orchestrates these transactions, ensuring successful provisioning while automatically recovering and rolling back failures when necessary.
Today, this platform processes tens of billions of transactions annually and serves as a foundational dependency across OCI. As cloud adoption accelerates, we’re building the next generation of this system to deliver significantly greater scale, performance, resiliency, and multi-tenant capabilities.
This is a rare opportunity to define the architecture of a foundational cloud service that will shape the future of OCI.
Lead the architectural vision and technical direction for OCI’s next-generation workflow orchestration platform.
Design highly scalable distributed systems capable of supporting billions of high-throughput transactions.
Partner with engineering leaders across Compute, Storage, Networking, and other OCI organizations to build a platform that serves the needs of the broader cloud ecosystem.
Drive architecture decisions around consistency, fault tolerance, transaction management, durability, and performance.
Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across a rapidly growing organization.
Evaluate emerging technologies while determining where custom platform innovation provides strategic advantage.
Required Qualifications:
Extensive experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
Strong expertise in high-performance backend architecture, distributed transactions, concurrency, and fault-tolerant systems.
Experience building or evolving foundational infrastructure platforms that operate at cloud scale.
Demonstrated ability to influence architecture across multiple engineering teams and organizations.
Proven technical leadership on complex, business-critical systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with workflow orchestration platforms or distributed workflow engines.
Familiarity with write-ahead logging (WAL), storage engines, transaction processing, or database internals.
Experience with high-throughput messaging, event-driven architectures, or distributed coordination systems.
Background working on hyperscale cloud infrastructure or similarly large-scale distributed platforms.
Certain U.S. based or U.S. customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization/occupational health mandates, and/or drug testing requirements.
