Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, El Paso Field Office, Passenger Inspection Division, located in El Paso, Texas. Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $129,258.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $168,040.00 (GS-14, Step 10). In this Watch Commander position for the Office of Field Operations, you will become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals responsible for managing all reportable incidents, emergent activities within the port. Major duties may include: Providing leadership and direction to subordinate supervisors, addressing personnel matters, and ensuring staff performance aligns with organizational goals. Making staffing recommendations, conducting interviews, and fostering a positive and collaborative team environment to support mission objectives. Overseeing daily port operations, managing incident response and emergencies, and ensuring timely communication with senior leadership. Coordinating enforcement activities across multiple locations, monitoring admissibility decisions, and ensuring proper handling of seizures, arrests, and detentions. Establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external agencies, supporting joint investigations, and promoting the efficient flow of legitimate trade and travel.
