We are looking for a talented principal engineer to join the Director of Technology in the Requirements & Capabilities team. This is a rare role that offers immediate high-visibility work – you will help craft the technical heart of our future proposals and directly influence our R&D strategy.


You will work in a dynamic team defining our future technology solutions to deliver advanced capability to the defence force.  Collaborating with engineering, commercial and project management to develop compelling solutions to our customers future needs.
The role involves engaging with suppliers, universities and DSTG to help identify, scope and implement R&D solutions to develop advanced new capabilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the R&C team to develop innovative, and competitive technical solutions for our proposals
  • Translate customer requirements into compelling engineering designs, system architectures and technology solutions
  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments and trade studies to support both proposal solutions and R&D initiatives
  • Support the planning, scoping and implementation of R&D projects to build new organisational capabilities and products
  • Stay across emerging technologies and industry trends to keep our bids and R&D pipeline at the cutting edge.
  • Participate in the gate process and colour reviews that help ensure the quality of our bids and proposals
  • Demonstrate a focus on delivering the best possible outcome and attends to all details required to deliver the right solutions at the right time and commitments are met on schedule.
  • Consistent and unquestionable ethical conduct and discretion in all matters, interactions, and agreements with internal and external parties


Skills, Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Relevant degree qualification in Engineering.
  • Over 10 years prior relevant experience required
  • Experience in the development of technical solutions to shape and meet customer requirements.
  • Outstanding written communication skills
