A Day in the Life

A Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor, ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. They manage a team of operators or technicians, providing leadership, training, and guidance to maintain high standards of productivity and quality. The supervisor monitors workflow, resolves issues, enforces compliance with safety regulations, and implements process improvements. Additionally, they coordinate with other departments, such as quality control and maintenance, to meet production targets and deadlines. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to motivate and support their team in a fast-paced environment.

         

         

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
  • Management Skills: Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Management of Personnel Resources, Collaboration and Productivity Software, Effective Communication Skills.
  • Functional Skills: Machining and Manufacturing Technologies, Proficient computer skills, Data Science and Analysis, Lean Manufacturing and continued improvement, Managing Quality.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires 1+ years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice to Have -Preferred skills and education

  • BS in Engineering or Management
  • Lean Sigma (YB or GB)
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), line transfers, or scale‑up activities
  • Strong understanding of capacity planning, labor modeling, and production scheduling
  • Strong knowledge of financial acumen
  • Strong interpersonal skills when working with team members, peers, and support teams.
  • Demonstrates the ability to foster a culture of ethics and integrity while promoting a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Knowledge overseeing their areas, managing performance and developing talents.
  • Experience managing people. which includes managing performance, accountability, development and coaching
  • Capable of fostering collaboration and commitment among team members and leaders to achieve objectives.
  • Knowledge in MPS tools such as Live Link and Pitch Tracker.
  • Proficient in OEE analysis and the Vorne system.
  • Skilled using Power BI, Global Factory Works, Pentaho, and Excel data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of the Value Streams KPIs and visual aids.
  • Strategic Thinking to mitigate any target impact.
  • Able to plan corrective plans to mitigate the KPIs impact.
  • Knowledge or support layouts and process flows assessments.
  • Able to conduct or assist with capacity analysis.
  • Regularly performs or supports quality, safety, and productivity Gemba inspections in line with established targets.
  • Able to evaluate team members requirements in accordance with financial targets.
  • Able to maintain level operations and ensure that the OEE and labor efficiency is achieved.
  • Good communications skills to escalate any abnormality immediately through the MPS standard.
  • Knowledge identifying skills and techniques to maintain training matrix based on the team members development and project needs.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
