Accountabilities
- Act as the primary technical contact for customers across Australia, building trusted relationships with technical teams, asset owners, and commercial stakeholders.
- Support pre-sales activities by leading technical discovery sessions, assessing data readiness, and contributing to solution architecture discussions.
- Drive customer onboarding processes, including reviewing system documentation, mapping sensor hierarchies, configuring data specifications, and preparing platforms for KPI deployment.
- Manage KPI implementation and validation by analyzing data quality, identifying sensor issues, and resolving challenges related to insufficient cycling data or aggregation accuracy.
- Conduct battery performance analysis during commissioning and augmentation activities, interpreting capacity tests, identifying anomalies, and delivering clear insights to customers.
- Analyze battery behavior and operational data to identify issues such as cell imbalances, voltage variations, performance gaps, and efficiency concerns.
- Provide training and guidance to performance engineers, operations teams, and asset managers on platform capabilities and battery insights.
- Share customer feedback and recurring technical challenges with Product and Engineering teams to support continuous improvement.
- Travel up to 40% across Australia for customer meetings and on-site engagements.
- Collaborate with global technical, sales, and customer success teams while independently managing customer needs within the Australian timezone.
- Professional experience within the BESS industry is required, with previous experience as a performance engineer, systems engineer, O&M engineer, or in a similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of battery energy storage systems from commissioning through operational phases.
- Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience in the BESS sector.
- Deep knowledge of lithium-ion battery behavior, including degradation mechanisms, capacity fade, internal resistance, state-of-charge estimation, and cell voltage or temperature imbalances.
- Experience working with battery data analysis, including Python-based data processing, signal validation, and anomaly investigation.
- Familiarity with data platforms such as Databricks is a plus.
- Understanding of BESS data flows and communication protocols, including Modbus, IEC-104, OPC-UA, REST APIs, and SFTP.
- Knowledge of the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM), including dispatch mechanisms, FCAS markets, capacity obligations, and settlement processes, is highly advantageous.
- Ability to understand the impact of grid requirements and time-based data logging considerations on KPI configuration and data validation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
