Who are we looking for?   

GHD is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our Rail & Transit team and support the delivery of engineering consulting services for major transportation infrastructure projects across Ontario. This position can be based in our Toronto, Markham, or Mississauga office.

We are looking for a motivated and career-focused engineer who is interested in developing a future in project management and project delivery within the rail and transit sector. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to a wide range of transit infrastructure projects, including commuter rail, heavy rail, light rail transit (LRT), bus rapid transit (BRT), stations, guideways, rail corridors, and other transit expansion initiatives. These project types align with the Rail & Transit practice's focus areas.

Working alongside experienced Project Managers and technical specialists, you will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, including project planning, design management, stakeholder coordination, procurement support, project controls, construction delivery, and contract administration. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in infrastructure project delivery while developing the skills required to progress into a future Project Manager role within GHD's growing Rail & Transit practice.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: 

  • Support Project Managers in the planning, coordination, and delivery of rail and transit infrastructure projects across all phases of the project lifecycle. 

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and effective communication between stakeholders. 

  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, risk registers, action logs, and project reporting tools.

  • Support project controls activities, including cost tracking, schedule monitoring, resource planning, and performance reporting.

  • Participate in client, consultant, contractor, and stakeholder meetings and prepare meeting minutes, action items, and follow-up documentation.

  • Assist with project governance, document control, quality management, and project management system administration.

  • Support coordination with transit agencies, municipalities, utility companies, regulatory authorities, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Contribute to procurement activities, including preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), technical submissions, bid evaluations, and contract documentation.

  • Prepare project presentations, dashboards, status reports, and other client-facing materials.

  • Assist in proposal preparation, business development initiatives, market research, and strategic pursuits within the rail and transit sector. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned, digital delivery processes, and the implementation of innovative project management tools.

     

     

    What you will bring to the Team

     

     

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management
  • 0 to 2 years of experience
  • Registered or ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License in due time
  • Strong interest in project management, project controls, and coordination of major infrastructure programs. 
  • Understanding of project delivery processes, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder coordination. 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Strong Knowledge of Power BI, Primavera P6, MS Project, SharePoint, or similar project management tools are considered an asset. 
  • Knowledge of rail, transit, transportation, or public infrastructure projects is considered an asset. 
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, professionalism, and a strong desire to develop into a future Project Manager within the Rail & Transit industry.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Master’s degree in engineering will be a plus
