Accountabilities:
- Prepare and review federal and state partnership tax returns, including Form 1065 and related schedules, for venture capital fund clients.
- Manage the preparation, quality control, and delivery of Schedule K-1 documents to limited partners.
- Coordinate with fund accounting teams and external tax professionals to collect information, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Respond to tax notices and provide guidance on fund-level tax questions and compliance matters.
- Monitor tax deadlines across multiple fund entities and ensure timely completion of required filings.
- Identify and evaluate complex tax issues, including allocations, Section 704(b) considerations, carried interest treatment, and PFIC-related matters.
- Support improvements to tax workflows, documentation, and processes to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Act as a trusted internal resource for partnership tax expertise and contribute to the continuous improvement of fund administration operations.
- Active CPA license required.
- 5+ years of experience in partnership tax, with significant exposure to venture capital, private equity, fund of funds, or similar investment structures.
- Strong knowledge of Form 1065, Schedule K-1 preparation, and state composite and withholding filing requirements.
- Experience working within or alongside a fund administrator, registered investment advisor, or public accounting firm focused on investment management clients.
- Understanding of fund accounting concepts, including capital accounts, allocation methodologies, and waterfall mechanics.
- Experience using tax preparation software such as UltraTax, CCH Axcess, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and review skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies and technical issues.
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Competitive annual compensation ranging from $95,000 to $130,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
