Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial for the development of new processes and the continuous improvement of existing processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating specifications, conducting studies, sizing equipment, and working closely with various teams to ensure successful project execution. Within the Technology department, the experienced process and technology engineer works under the supervision of the process technology manager.

Responsibilities

Perform development of new process and improvement of existing process : Write the specifications for the studies entrustedProduce material and utility balances (which will be used by operators to operate the unit and define the material cost)Specify and carry out the sizing of equipment / installations, regardless of their complexity, by calling on the necessary support skillsIn coordination with R&D team, validate the feasibility of new process or process improvementsEstablish PFD and P&ID diagrams, issue process description and associated operating manualsPerforms preliminary safety analyzes and participate to HAZOP reviews / Design and checking of pressure relieving devicesTrain future users about the equipment installedProposes idea for lab or pilot trials based on industrial issuesPerforms process studies to support R&D development projects (new pMMA grades industrialization).May be required to functionally supervise the work of process trainees/internship  Participate to the implementation of new investment projects, managed by the Technical Office Contribute to all steps of the project: from the design of future equipment to the calculation of variable costs.Detailed design the equipmentCollaborate with the engineering companies to which certain services are entrusted. Validate the issued documents, meet suppliers and carry out safety studiesFollow the construction phaseCan also work in conjunction with the Trinseo Global Manufacturing and Engineering project team, train engineers who will work on such project.Prepare the Process Design Package in collaboration with the technical officeSet up test runs (definition of goals, sampling and analysis plan, additional data collection on the field, interpretation of results, etc.).Ensure that the equipment starts up on time, with the expected product quality and within the defined production capacities.  Supply operational support, coordinate action plans and improve performance. Analyze complex workshop malfunctioning (troubleshooting), suggest solutions to solve them and coordinate their implementationPropose and study improvements by implementing the Management Of Change processImplement best practices in the studies for which the jobholder is responsible.Maintain process documentation for the existing workshop and for engineering projectInvestigate new technology in the market to improve performances or solve recurrent issues in the existing workshop   

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in process engineering, ideally in an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of process design, equipment sizing, and safety analysis.
  • Familiarity with creating and interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, and process descriptions.
  • Experience with safety reviews (HAZOP) and pressure relief device design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with R&D support and process optimization projects is a plus.
 Good driving ability of several projects in parallel, as well as supporting the production team in term of troubleshooting and performances optimization. Fluent English and Italian      The base salary range for this role is € 42.000 – € 52.000. The final offer within this range will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications and internal alignment criteria.
