Job Description Summary

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, installation, and repair of mechanical systems and components, whether these activities are planned or unplanned, on the equipment included in the scope of the O&M contract.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The O&M Mechanical Technical must possess the knowledge to perform interventions on the various mechanical equipment of a thermal power plant. Power generation and support equipment includes gas turbines, steam turbines, diesel engines, generators, triple-pressure heat recovery steam generators, air compressors, motors, pumps, piping (air, water, steam), and valves.
  • Diagnosing the cause of mechanical failures or malfunctions of operating equipment such as pumps, compressors, valves, and piping. You must be able to communicate the findings to all stakeholders.
  • Diagnosing, testing, repairing, or replacing defective mechanical components. Replace electric motor bearings.
  • Test faulty equipment and apply knowledge of the operation of mechanical units and systems to diagnose the cause of the failure.
  • Align and adjust equipment according to specifications.
  • Maintain records of repairs, calibrations, and tests performed.
  • Record maintenance actions on work orders.
  • Repair valves as needed for proper system operation and mechanical isolation.
  • Identify the necessary spare parts for the various plant systems.
  • Submit purchasing requisitions in the MAXIMO system.
  • Read and understand the system's technical manuals and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to the procedures in the technical manual.
  • Prepare legible and understandable work orders for required preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all plant safety procedures and regulations.
  • Collaborate with external contractors on various investment projects. Effective communication with employees at all levels of the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Recognised technical qualification in mechanical
  • Knowledge of engineering practices, functions and processes involved in the operation and maintenance of a CCPP
  • Good knowledge of typical mechanical tools and equipments
  • Knowledge of different maintenance types used in the industry
  • Three  years experience as mechanics in industrial environment, preferably in a CCPP environment.
  • Handling of machine tools (e.g. lathe) for modifications, repair and production of small spare parts.
  • Able to work unsupervised on mechanical tasks at the Power Station as needed
