Lactation Specialist - Health Education CenterResponsibilities:
  1. Provides advanced lactation support and education to inpatient and outpatient populations of infants, pregnant and postpartum mothers. 

  2. Knowledgeable in the concepts and steps of the Baby Friendly initiative and supports the initiatives beliefs and values.

  3. Leads classes for new and expectant mothers and their families.

  4. Ability to work in a variety of settings (industry, community, telehealth, civic groups, classroom style).

  5. Works to support state initiatives such as Birth Comes, Baby Friendly, Safe Sleep.

  6. Interacts with multidisciplinary team around infant/mother concerns.

  7. Helps New or Expectant mothers with necessary resources (equipment, support, aid) for breast feeding success.

  8. Encourages clinical staff to manage basic breast feeding concepts.

  9. Uses good time management skills to address all consults in a timely manner.

  10. Understands retail operations of the Resource Center.

  11. Works flex ably as a team to meet the needs of patients and families in a variety of setting.

  12. Ensure all documentation is completed timely and accurately to ensure consistency in communication with other care 
    givers.

  13. Able to function independently within 6-month time frame.

  14. Conducts follow-up phone call to breast feeding mothers.

Qualifications:

RN, RD, OT or equivalent. Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) or equivalent.
IBCLC within 12 months of hire/transfer.
