Voice Communications Switch (VCS) Systems Engineer
Location: This position is remote and requires 50% travel.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Voice Communications Switch (VCS) Systems Engineer to support the installation, transition, and sustainment of next-generation Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems. This role is critical to successful site surveys, site installation design, site preparation, system cutover, & customer acceptance, and legacy system decommissioning in operational environments.
This position requires a highly skilled VCS engineer with an aviation background who can operate independently, solve complex technical issues under time constraints, and work directly with customers and stakeholders to ensure seamless voice system transitions with minimal operational disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support site surveys, site preparation, and system installation activities
- Execute and support VCS system cutovers from legacy voice platforms to next-generation systems
- Coordinate multiple ongoing VCS installation activities
- Petrom site readiness assessments
- Develop site installation plans
- Provide on-site customer support and end-user orientation/training as needed
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, service reports, and cutover records
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, site security, and operational standards
- Coordinate closely with program management, stakeholders, customers, engineers, and other field technicians during site installation and deployment activities
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust Clearance
- 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
Experience supporting site surveys and installation design efforts
Strong understanding of system architecture, integration, and technical baseline control
Experience developing or updating enterprise architecture documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with government or mission-critical communication systems
Knowledge of automation platforms and large-scale system integration
Background in requirements traceability and systems verification
