HoneyBook is the leading AI-powered business management platform for service-based business owners. Designed to enhance - not replace - independent professionals. HoneyBook’s AI-powered tools help businesses attract leads, connect with clients, book projects, and manage payments more efficiently. With AI seamlessly integrated into every workflow, entrepreneurs can focus on their craft while scaling their businesses with confidence. Since its founding in 2013, HoneyBook has powered over 25 million client relationships and processed more than $12 billion in transactions, helping independent businesses grow faster and smarter.

Our culture is built on five core values that inform everything we do. We encourage collaboration, feedback, ownership, and maintain a growth mindset. We know experience comes in many forms - some visible on your resume, others not. No one candidate will be a 100% perfect match to our description, so if you thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually curious environment and have relevant experience, we encourage you to apply.

About the Role

HoneyBook is a payments company as much as a CRM. Our financial products - Balance, Capital, instant payouts, micro-invoicing - are what turn HoneyBook from software into financial infrastructure for our members' businesses.

We're looking for a Head of Financial Products to own HoneyBook's financial-products portfolio end to end and to lead the new, standalone initiatives that leverage HB's financial products across the member base. You'll be the owner of HB's financial products and the market pulse on what's coming next that can help our members - new payment methods, new banking and capital capabilities, new ways money moves for service businesses.

This is a senior individual-leadership role. You'll lead through ownership, clarity, and influence.

What you'll own

  • The portfolio — payments processing, Balance (banking), Capital (lending), instant payouts, territory expansion and new business opportunities

  • New standalone initiatives — identify, scope, and drive new bets that leverage HB's financial products for the member base, from idea through PMF.

  • The market pulse — track where payments, fintech, and embedded finance are moving; bring the developments that can help HB members before competitors do.

  • The vendor stack — Stripe, Plaid, Unit, QuickBooks. Contract negotiation, escalations, roadmap alignment and more

  • The economics — GPV, take-rate, unit economics, margins, fraud loss appetite, vendor cost. You own and defend the numbers.

What we're looking for

We're not looking for a process operator. We're looking for a commercial product leader who happens to love fintech — operating at the exceeding-the-standard bar from day one:

  • Ownership & agency. You own outcomes end to end — including the decision to continue, scale, reshape, or stop. You set the decision framework (problem, success, assumptions, tradeoffs, kill-signals) before work starts and keep the team honest against it. You don't wait for someone to tell you how the work will be judged.

  • Operates in ambiguity. When the problem isn't defined, you make assumptions explicit, pressure-test them fast, and move. A fast, imperfect call beats waiting for perfect analysis — and you know the blast radius.

  • Judgment & taste. You bring a clear point of view, synthesize inputs into a defensible recommendation, and don't default to the average of what stakeholders said. You can name weak logic and a solution that isn't good enough yet — including in others' work.

  • Commercial instincts. You think in pricing, margin, take-rate, unit economics, and vendor cost. You can read a P&L and a contract and tell us what's hiding in it.

  • Show, don't tell. You'd rather put a model, prototype, or one-pager in front of the team than run another meeting.

  • AI-driven velocity. You build tools, prompts, and workflows that embed your thinking so the team moves without waiting on you. The bottleneck isn't you — that's the point.

  • Customer obsessed. You're in our members' businesses regularly. You can tell a real pattern from a loud opinion.

  • High ownership, low ego. You see a fire, you put it out, even if it's not "yours."

Experience

  • 8+ years of product management experience

  • Deep domain in payments, fintech, or B2B financial products — you've shipped against Stripe / Adyen / Square / Plaid / a BaaS platform / lending infra.

  • Track record of building 0-to-1 and scaling live products to find PMF.

  • Comfortable as the named executive counterpart to vendor and partner leadership.

  • US ↔ international expansion (UK/EU/AU) in payments.

  • Experience with regulatory and fraud challenges

The good stuff:

Mission-driven: You'll be joining more than just another startup. Our members’ success is at the heart of everything we do.

Impact: We move quickly and encourage every employee to push the envelope. Our best ideas come from out-of-the-box thinking and innovation; be ready to fail fast and often!

Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and meaningful equity grants.

Benefits & perks: From wellness programs to exceptional family leave policies, the health and happiness of our employees are foremost.

Our core values:

People come first: We prioritize people as we explore opportunities and work through challenges.
Raise the bar: We push for greatness—for ourselves, each other, and our members.
Own it: Trust and ownership let us make decisions with confidence.
We love what we do: We bring passion to our work and love what we create for our members.
