This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.An organization within Northrop Grumman’s, SYNOPTICS is the world-wide leader in the growth, fabrication, and coating of crystalline materials used in laser systems. SYNOPTICS serves the photonics and optics industry across the globe.Learn more about SYNOPTICS at our website: https://www.northropgrumman.com/space/synoptics/.A Manufacturing Technician in the Crystal Growth department will collaborate within a technical team comprised of engineers, welders, and maintenance staff to perform all daily tasks associated with production of oxide and fluoride single crystals grown from the melt in high temperature furnaces.In this job, you will:The Crystal Growth Technician is responsible for the building and monitoring of crystal growth furnaces.Other responsibilities will include weighing and mixing raw materials, operating crystal growth furnaces, monitoring data and graphs, and harvesting and evaluating final crystal products.The individual will gain hands-on experience operating specialized equipment as well as a technicalunderstanding of the art and science of bulk crystal growth processes.The Manufacturing Technician role requires an eye for detail and high quality of workmanship when assembling growth furnaces, preparing the raw materials used in the process, and harvesting and inspection of the crystals.Basic Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.No clearance required to startExperience with standard hand tools and measuring devices including calipers and rulersMust be able to lift 50 lbs. on a frequent basisStrong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learnMust have computer experience and be able to work with spreadsheetsPreferred Qualifications:Associates degree in a technical disciplineStrong aptitude in basic math and science disciplines including physics and chemistryCrystal growth experience is preferred but not requiredMechanical aptitude and good troubleshooting skillsHazardous Materials:Organic and inorganic acids, Beryllium OxideCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop...
