About the Role
Elsevier is looking for a Senior Biomedical AI Evaluation Expert with a strong chemistry background to join our Evaluation Team. You will play a crucial role in managing evaluations for GenAI products for life sciences, supporting the design, execution and analysis of evaluation of solutions that support pharmaceutical companies with safety and efficacy decisions. You will be an integral part of product development through live-production and release-readiness evaluation of GenAI products. You will work closely and in partnership with stakeholder groups across Corporate Markets - including Content, Product, Data Science, Technology, Commercial, and Marketing - to support targeted business outcomes in addition with colleagues in other groups across Elsevier. Through structured evaluation and scientific judgment, you will help ensure that our AI solutions reflect real-world scientific understanding.
This role will report into the Senior Manager AI Evaluation, Life Sciences.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply scientific expertise to design customer-focused success criteria for AI solutions
Use AI and human review to prepare evaluation sets specific to product use cases
Manage and participate in expert human and automated evaluation of GenAI output
Support development of automated evaluation approaches through human SME validation
Manage SME evaluators to score GenAI output through formal evaluation and user feedback
Align evaluation with Operations, Product, and Marketing delivery team strategies
Translate evaluation findings into clear, documented recommendations to operations and product stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
Strong academic background in life sciences (e.g. bioinformatics, cheminformatics, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, or similar)
Experience evaluating or validating AI or algorithmic outputs using scientific data
Experience applying scientific expertise in structured data or content environments (e.g. databases, taxonomies, or similar systems)
Solid technical understanding (e.g. data flows, APIs, GitHub)
Ability to work well in a matrixed organization and on cross-functional teams
Strong management and communication skills to expert audience

Primary Location Base Pay Range: Germany - Frankfurt (Baseler Platz) €62,200 - €103,500. 



If performed in NLD Amsterdam (Radarweg), the base pay range is €59,300 - €98,800.
