Accountabilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service while guiding patients through financial clearance and benefit verification processes.
- Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits information using healthcare information systems and document findings accurately.
- Update patient accounts and workflow systems with complete and timely documentation.
- Review and select appropriate medical records to support patient safety and accurate scheduling based on physician orders.
- Assign insurance plans correctly and complete electronic eligibility verification activities.
- Calculate patient financial responsibility and communicate expected costs clearly and professionally.
- Contact patients regarding outstanding balances or expected payments and support collection activities when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate account notes, communication records, and payment-related documentation.
- Collaborate with hospital teams and internal stakeholders to resolve financial clearance questions and prevent delays in care.
- Embrace innovation, including emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions, to improve processes and enhance patient and client experiences.
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of healthcare experience preferred, particularly in patient access, billing, admissions, payments, or revenue cycle operations.
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance processes, including eligibility verification, benefits confirmation, and authorization requirements.
- Understanding of medical terminology and CPT/procedure codes.
- Experience working with managed care, insurance processes, or healthcare call center environments is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Customer-service oriented mindset with the ability to build trust and deliver positive patient experiences.
