Responsibilities

Peraton is developing the next generation of mission‑critical command‑and‑control and enterprise software capabilities supporting the U.S. Government’s space communications infrastructure. As a Senior Verification Engineer, you will lead the planning, execution, and documentation of software and system‑level testing activities across a complex, multi‑system environment. You will translate requirements into actionable test approaches, develop test plans and automated test scripts, and verify system behavior across integrated components, external interfaces, and mission partner systems. This role blends hands‑on test execution with systems‑level thinking to ensure that delivered capabilities meet functional, performance, and operational requirements. You will collaborate closely with software developers, systems engineers, and integration teams to validate system changes, support release readiness, and maintain quality across the platform.

 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Develops and executes test scripts to ensure that quality software is provided for release to production and to certify system changes.
  • Produces test plan documents and requirements. Develops test control databases.
  • Performs solution testing confirming business requirements.
  • Maintains test databases and ensures their integrity and currency.
  • Distributes test data from control database to development staff to satisfy adequate unit testing.
  • Develops, compiles, documents, and runs automated test scripts and test procedures. Runs regression tests. Tracks status of defects.
  • Provides quality assurance testing for all systems to ensure the development and distribution of quality products.
  • Assists with roll-out of systems documentation.
  • Produces lists of defects that are to be resolved and incorporated into future releases of the application as required.
  • Communicates with analysts and programmers about formal testing plans, problems, and results.
  • Develops technical documentation and reports.
  • Oversees the release management process for all changes to the baseline IT infrastructure.
  • Monitors compliance with established processes throughout project lifecycles.
  • Ensures all existing processes are fully documented, suggesting improvements, updating documentation, and communicating all process changes to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Associate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline and 14+ years of relevant experience; OR bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 12+ years of relevant experience; OR a master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR a doctoral degree in a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
  • Experience providing technical leadership, serving as a project lead, or guiding team activities.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience with software testing
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience creating test plans/procedures
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in an Agile software development environment
  • Experience testing frontend and backend services, including API verification.
  • Experience performing and supporting integrated testing with external system elements, mission partners, and multi-contractor teams.
  • Experience supporting a System of Systems Integrator with Segment and System Assembly, Integration, and Verification Testing (A&IT).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI
  • Experience supporting unit, system, interface, integration, and verification testing
  • Familiarity with automated testing, DevSecOps, and CI/CD
  • Direct experience supporting customer-facing test events or requirement validation or acceptance activities
  • Experience working in a Linux based environment
  • Experience working with an RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, etc.)
  • Experience creating or maintaining automated software testing scripts/tools (Selenium, Cypress, etc.)
  • Experience working with Jira, Jenkins, Gitlab, Ansible
  • Experience with Agile
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), cloud storage devices (S3, Amazon RDS)
  • Hands-on experience working with microservice architectures using container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
