The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for supporting warehouse operations, inventory control, material movement, and non-radiological shipping activities at Standard Nuclear’s Oak Ridge facility. This role ensures materials, supplies, equipment, and consumables are received, inspected, documented, stored, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.
This position supports production and facility needs by maintaining accurate records, organizing materials, coordinating shipments and receipts, and following company procedures for safe and compliant material handling.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a manufacturing or industrial environment where documentation, traceability, safe material handling, and inventory accuracy matter.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving & Incoming Materials
- Receive incoming materials, supplies, equipment, packages, and consumables
- Verify shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and receiving documentation
- Inspect incoming items for visible damage, quantity issues, labeling issues, or documentation gaps
- Document discrepancies and coordinate resolution with supply chain, vendors, quality, or other internal teams
- Route received items to the correct storage area, department, or requestor
- Maintain accurate inventory records upon receipt and ensure materials are properly identified and stored
Shipping & Outbound Materials
- Prepare outbound shipments for non-radiological materials in accordance with company procedures and shipping requirements
- Package, label, stage, and document shipments accurately
- Coordinate carrier pickups, deliveries, and shipment tracking
- Maintain shipping records, bills of lading, packing slips, and related documentation
- Coordinate outbound freight schedules and ensure materials are available and properly staged for shipment
- Communicate shipment status, delays, or issues to supply chain and internal stakeholders
Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management
- Own and maintain accurate material locations, quantities, and records
- Stage materials, consumables, and supplies for operations, maintenance, engineering, and other teams
- Move materials safely using approved equipment and handling methods
- Maintain organized storage areas, receiving areas, shipping areas, and staging locations
- Identify shortages, misplaced items, damaged materials, or inventory discrepancies
- Support cycle counts, physical inventory, audits, and special projects as needed
- Monitor warehouse inventory levels and coordinate replenishment needs with Supply Chain
- Coordinate movement of non-radiological materials between warehouse, production, maintenance, engineering, and other operational groups
Documentation & System Updates
- Enter receiving, shipping, and inventory information into company systems accurately and on time
- Maintain organized records to support audits, traceability, financial reconciliation, and operational needs
- Support purchase order closeout, receipt confirmation, and documentation review
- Ensure required paperwork is complete before materials are released, moved, stored, or shipped
- Help improve warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory workflows as company systems mature
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Follow company safety, quality, radiological, security, and material handling requirements
- Support proper handling, labeling, storage, and control of materials in accordance with site procedures
- Identify and escalate unsafe conditions, damaged goods, missing documentation, or material control issues
- Work with Quality, EH&S, Radiological Controls, Security, and Supply Chain when special handling or documentation is required
- Maintain clean, organized, and inspection-ready warehouse, shipping, receiving, staging, and storage areas
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, inventory, warehouse, logistics, supply chain, or material handling preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, nuclear, chemical, aerospace, defense, or regulated environment is a plus
- Ability to read and verify packing slips, purchase orders, shipping documents, labels, and inventory records
- Experience using ERP, inventory, shipping, receiving, or warehouse management systems preferred
- Forklift, pallet jack, or material handling experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to safely lift, move, stage, and handle materials in accordance with company requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based on-site at Standard Nuclear’s Oak Ridge, TN nuclear fuel fabrication facility and involves work in receiving, shipping, warehouse, storage, office, and manufacturing support areas.
The position may involve lifting, standing, walking, material handling, use of forklifts or pallet jacks, and interaction with delivery drivers, carriers, vendors, and internal teams. Work may require PPE and adherence to site safety, quality, radiological, security, contamination control, and operational procedures.
