Senior Technical Data Lead
Responsibilities
Identity is the new perimeter — and behind every ICAM platform is a data layer that has to be right the first time, every time.
Peraton is seeking a Senior Technical Data Lead to own the databases, storage, and data-services engineering underneath a mission-critical Ping / ForgeRock identity platform running in AWS GovCloud. If you've spent your career making Oracle, DB2, and cloud data services behave under real production load — and you want to lead the engineers who do it — read on.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Real technical authority. You own the data engineering roadmap for a large-scale, highly available ICAM platform — architecture calls, risk decisions, mitigation strategies, and technical performance metrics all run through you.
- Ping + ForgeRock + Oracle + DB2 in GovCloud. A rare stack combination at federal scale. If you like being the person others come to when the identity data layer misbehaves, this is that seat.
- Lead the team, don't just advise it. You'll oversee the systems engineering staff, plan cost/schedule/execution, and be accountable for the outcome — not just the deck.
- End-to-end life-cycle. Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, optimize. Nothing gets tossed over a wall.
What You'll Do
- Oversee engineering activities across the ICAM data platform — systems being developed, modified, and already in production.
- Plan, design, develop, evaluate, test, and integrate the systems infrastructure, including hardware and software design decisions.
- Ensure the platform meets stability, integrity, and efficiency requirements against the approved specifications.
- Support acquisition documentation, milestone reviews, and key operational and test events.
- Verify the system is maintained and continuously optimized once operational; review and tune networked software and associated operating systems.
- Lead the systems engineering team — execute and manage risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Own the cost, schedule, and execution plan for data-side projects; develop and review technical performance metrics.
- Manage and coordinate multiple concurrent tasks with strict deadlines against a business-critical, highly available system.
- Partner with agile / scrum teams to assess how enhancements, defects, and change requests impact the data architecture.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance
- Bachelors Degree and 12 years of experience, or a High School diploma or equivalent and 16 years of experience
- 10+ years supporting Information Technology in enterprise environments.
- 7+ years hands-on with IBM products, Oracle products, and cloud-based products.
- Strong technical grounding in Identity and Access Management and AWS GovCloud services.
- Demonstrated command of the software development, enhancement, and maintenance life-cycle.
- Direct experience with data encryption, data storage, and data retention at scale.
- Proven ability to plan, lead, and coordinate multiple concurrent, deadline-driven tasks on a large-scale, highly available system integrated with business-critical systems.
- Agile / scrum experience — able to translate story-level change into architectural impact.
- Ability to perform complex technical tasks and expert knowledge of recent advances in computer science and engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and certification in the target ICAM DB product; certifications in Oracle and DB2 strongly desired.
- Prior experience on a federal ICAM program (Ping, ForgeRock, or equivalent identity platform).
- Track record designing for FedRAMP / GovCloud constraints — encryption at rest and in transit, key management, audit, retention.
