Position: Engineering Intern

Work Location: Boston, MA, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Helen of Troy’s internship is a 8-10-week program. We empower our interns with opportunities to work on business challenges aligned to your educational goals! Your peers and managers will support and improve your leadership skills and experience.
What you will be doing:
Helen of Troy is a manufacturer and marketer of consumer products sold under such brands as PUR, Honeywell, Vicks and Braun. The Medical Device New Product Development team based in Marlborough for the Wellness division focuses on the design and development of new medical device technologies such as thermometers and blood pressure monitors. Interns will get the opportunity to help build and evaluate prototypes, help create test protocols and design fixtures, utilize new technologies as well as create and run test methods on analytical equipment to evaluate, and gain hands on experience with 3D modeling and 3D printing.
Research relevant information concerning products and technologies.
Leverage that knowledge to help prototype or test new technologies.
Learn to operate and run some analytical equipment like ICP-OES, GC/MS, SEM/EDAX, Fluke BP2 Simulator.
Write test plans to understand performance and variables.
Write reports and presentations on critical findings.
Final presentation to the Engineering organization on goals, approach, and results.
Learn basic principles of NPD such as writing requirements, outlining specifications, and creating a test plan.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Ability to envision methods for testing a function and reduce those concepts to practice.
Prepare presentations to communicate learnings to management.
Work in cross-functional teams to solve problems and help move projects to market.
Good record keeping.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current technical high school student.
Passion for brand-building and consumer marketing.
Strong computer skills.
Desire to learn.
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $13-15 hourly. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
