Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Meshinchi Lab Translational Science and Therapeutics Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, led by Dr. Soheil Meshinchi, focuses on developing targeted immunotherapies for pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML) by identifying leukemia-specific cell surface proteins suitable for CAR T-cell therapy. Their research has expanded to include other cancers, such as osteosarcoma, by leveraging shared molecular targets like folate receptor alpha (FOLR1) to design novel treatments.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform (or gain independence in performing) experiments using various molecular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting.
- Independently perform (or gain independence in performing) cell culture and cloning experiments.
- Independently perform (or gain independence in performing) flow cytometry and cell sorting experiments.
- Begin to identify methodological problems in research protocol and implement modifications to optimize experimental results.
- Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research.
- Prepare and present written or oral progress reports of research results including assembly, organization, and interpretation of data using graphs and charts.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines.
- Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies in cooperation with senior technician.
- Maintain database of laboratory supplies and research specimens in Excel.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs would be helpful.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study
- Demonstrated basic laboratory skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with cell culturing.
The hourly pay range for this position is from $23.33 to $33.21 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
