The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps SME to lead the design, implementation, automation, and optimization of modern DevOps practices across cloud and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on expertise in Git, Ansible, Terraform, APIs, and Cloud platforms, and will play a key role in driving infrastructure automation, CI/CD improvements, configuration management, and platform reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain DevOps pipelines, automation frameworks, and infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions.
- Manage and optimize source control and branching strategies using Git.
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, and automation workflows for configuration management and orchestration.
- Build and manage Terraform modules for provisioning and managing cloud and infrastructure resources.
- Integrate systems and tools using REST APIs, scripting, and automation techniques.
- Support and enhance cloud-based infrastructure across platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to implement CI/CD, automated deployments, and environment standardization.
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, performance, and security through automation and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build/deployment pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, configuration drift, and cloud services.
- Drive DevOps maturity, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Create technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and operational teams.
Who You Are
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Git including branching, merging, pull requests, repositories, and version control best practices.
- Extensive experience in Ansible for configuration management, application deployment, and orchestration.
- Strong experience in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and state management.
- Good understanding and hands-on use of REST APIs, API integrations, and automation using API calls.
- Solid experience with at least one major cloud platform:
- Experience with CI/CD tools GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, environment provisioning, and release automation.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift is preferred.
- Knowledge of Linux/Windows administration, networking basics, and security best practices.
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools is an advantage.
Functional Skills
- Ability to analyze operational challenges and design automation-based solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale production environments.
- Understanding of change management, incident management, and release management processes.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of overall IT experience with significant hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud, and automation.
- Relevant certifications are a plus, such as:
- Azure DevOps Engineer
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Terraform Associate
- Red Hat Ansible Automation certification
- Kubernetes certifications
